TikTok Shop affiliate commission: how it's set and when it's paid

Updated Oct 26, 20263 min readBy the Double Éveil team

On TikTok Shop, your commission isn't set by TikTok but by each seller. Here's how rates work, when the money arrives, and what can reduce it, so you choose products whose commission will last.

The seller sets the rate

TikTok guarantees no minimum rate to the creator. Each seller sets its own commission, product by product.

Open or targeted: two kinds of collaboration

Open collaboration Targeted collaboration
Who sees the offer Every eligible creator Creators invited by the seller
Rate The standard rate shown in the marketplace A custom commission, or a flat fee
Possible extras None Samples, a written brief

A worked example

🇺🇸 United States

A product sold for $40, 15% commission: $6 per sale, before any return.

🇬🇧 United Kingdom

A product sold for £40 including VAT, 15% commission on the price before VAT (£33.33): £5 per sale. Check the base shown for each product.

When you're paid

TikTok's US help says creators typically receive commission on the 15th day after delivery, up to 31 days after delivery if the seller's settlement period is longer, and later in case of returns or disputes. In the UK, check the timing shown in your creator center.

What can reduce your commission

  1. Returns and refunds.
  2. A freeze of commissions linked to a policy violation, during the review. See commission withheld.
  3. A rate change by the seller.

Watch out

Take a dated screenshot of the product and the rate when you accept a collaboration. It's your proof if there's a dispute.

Choose a rate that lasts

A very high rate on a product with a thin margin for the seller doesn't last: if they don't make enough, they cut your commission or stop. The 4x test on the product's price and cost gives you a signal: see the 4x rule.

Commissions are taxable income: see creator taxes.
