Opening a TikTok Shop in the US or the UK: requirements and steps

Updated Oct 26, 20263 min readBy the Double Éveil team

Opening a TikTok Shop takes a few days if your file is complete, and much longer if it isn't. Here's what the US and UK require, and the order in which to do things.

The requirements

United States United Kingdom
Age 18+ 18+
Status Individual Seller (SSN) or business (EIN with IRS letter CP 575 / 147C) Sole trader (UK ID) or registered company
ID US ID, or last 4 digits of SSN / ITIN UK passport or driving licence, selfie with ID
Bank US account UK account, same name as ID for a sole trader
Stock US warehouse declared in Seller Center Stock in the UK, domestic returns
Fee 6% on most categories 9% including VAT

The right order

  1. Validate a product (mission 3) and find local stock (mission V2).
  2. Set up your status (sole proprietor / sole trader, or a company).
  3. Prepare your documents: ID, tax number, bank statement, warehouse address.
  4. Register at seller-us.tiktok.com or seller-uk.tiktok.com.
  5. Wait for verification before listing.

Watch out

Common causes of delay: a blurry ID, a bank account in another name, an EIN without the IRS letter, a warehouse abroad.

Key point

Register when you're ready to sell, not before: probation starts with your shop, and an empty shop teaches you nothing.

How long does approval take?

Usually a few days when the file is complete.
