Seasonality: sell the right product at the right time on TikTok Shop

Updated Oct 26, 20263 min readBy the Double Éveil team

Our cooling pillow had a decent margin, around 3x. But we tested it at the end of September, and demand won't come back until spring. The season filter avoids this trap: your product must meet a need in the next 60 to 90 days.

Does the product meet a need in the next 60 to 90 days? Yes Move on to the other filters
No Postpone or change product

Why it's a filter in its own right

Between the idea and the first sale, you contact suppliers, order a sample, prepare a listing and videos. Start a summer product in September and you arrive when nobody wants it. Your stock sits for months.

A planning calendar

To launch a product, look 2 to 3 months ahead:

If it's… Think about…
August - September Halloween, cold weather, Black Friday, holiday gifts
October - November Christmas gifts, Boxing Day (UK), New Year resolutions
December - January Fitness, organizing, Valentine's Day
February - March Mother's Day (UK in March, US in May), spring, garden
April - May Summer, outdoors, travel, Father's Day (June)
June - July Back to school

Our method

This calendar is a guide. Always check real demand with trend tools before you order.

Key point

A good product at the wrong time is a bad product. Apply this filter before you calculate anything.

FAQ

Why 60 to 90 days?

That's the time it takes to find a supplier, get a sample, prepare the listing and post videos. If the season ends in the meantime, all that work falls flat.

Is a year-round product better?

It's simpler to manage, but a well-anticipated season can work too. What matters is not arriving after the demand.

How do I spot a trend?

TikTok Creative Center, free, shows trends. A TikTok Shop data tool shows the products whose sales are rising.
